Bluetest AB is a spin-off company from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. Professor Per-Simon Kildal from the antenna group at the university founded Bluetest AB based on his vision that antennas and devices could be characterized in a much faster and cost effective way. Since then, Bluetest has gradually introduced and verified the reverberation chamber as a method to accurately characterize wireless devices. Today Bluetest is the front runner in introducing Over-the-Air (OTA) test methods matching the needs of the wireless industry, and celebrates 20 years in the business 2020.
Our History
-
2000
The company Bluetest AB was founded based on a vision developed by Professor Per-Simon Kildal from Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden. The vision was about a novel compact OTA reverberation chamber for antenna measurements.
-
2001
Already in 2001, Bluetest’s first reverberation chamber for antenna measurements was available on the market. A research cooperation with TCO Development on how to measure mobile phones communication ability results in a contribution to the TCO´01 Certification of Mobile Phones standard.
-
2002
Bluetest’s Standard Chamber RC800, the 2nd generation, was developed during the first years and delivered to the first customer in 2002. The multipath environment made it ideal for customers to make fast passive antenna measurements.
-
2006
Bluetest’s 3rd generation reverberation chamber, the HP700, came to life. One of the main improvements was a better shielding of 100dB enabling accurate sensitivity measurements (TIS) in addition to the antenna efficiency and radiated power (TRP) measurements. With the new product and the hiring of CEO Mats Andersson sales started to take off and Bluetest moves from Chalmers to their own premises. Chambers were delivered worldwide and customers like the world leading carriers and mobile phone manufacturers started to see the benefits of the compact test system.
-
2007
Bluetest is happy to announce its first order to Japan for High Performance reverberation chamber.
-
2009
The first LTE network was launched and MIMO is the big thing. Bluetest is the first company to have a solution to measure MIMO enabled devices OTA. External financing creates a stable foundation for Bluetest to increase R&D, production and sales.
-
2010
The first LTE network was launched and MIMO is the big thing. Bluetest is the first company to have a solution to measure MIMO enabled devices OTA. External financing creates a stable foundation for Bluetest to increase R&D, production and sales.
-
2011
Kjell Olovsson takes over as CEO bringing extensive experience from sales in the test and measurement industry. Mats Andersson, the previous CEO of Bluetest, remains a member of the board.
-
2012
Bluetest delivers their 100th OTA system. 3GPP includes the Reverberation Chamber test method in the TRP and TIS measurement standard. The sales network is strengthened with the opening of Bluetest offices in North America and China and in Gothenburg Bluetest moves to a new head office doubling the available space.
-
2013
The introduction of LTE-Advanced and Carrier Aggregation measurements creates new challenges for the wireless industry and Bluetest is first on market with an OTA solution to meet this need. The innovative and cost-effective solutions result in the largest one-time order from one customer - 20 systems.
-
2014
Bluetest delivers the 200th OTA test system and introduce the larger RTS90 chamber to support test of larger IoT devices as well as realistic user testing with real persons. The Swedish industry newspaper “Dagens Industry” recognizes Bluetest as one of Sweden’s fastest growing tech companies with their annual “Gasell award”.
-
2015
Bluetest’s 5th generation reverberation chamber RTS65 is better than ever. After 15 years in the business much experience has been gained on the technology and what the customers want. The RTS65 gives engineers a brand new user experience, and an experience every engineer deserves. Bluetest receives their 2nd Gasell award from Dagens Industri.
-
2016
Bluetest’s smallest system, RTS25, is launched targeting primarily the Bluetooth and WLAN industry. Bluetest receives a prestigious award for Innovation and Creativity from Business Region Gothenburg, Sweden.
-
2017
Bluetest expands into base station and production testing through the acquisition of Gefle Testteknik (GTT). GTT is a Swedish-based cutting edge test technology provider for customers including some of the biggest players on the mobile infrastructure market, founded in 2010.
-
2018
OTA test solutions for 5G NR in both sub 6 GHz and mmWave range are introduced. The test solution is based on the existing RTS family and enables simultaneous connection on LTE and 5G.
-
2019
Bluetest delivers their 300th system and extends the product line-up with the RTS85HP targeting the base station segment and massive MIMO antennas. Bluetest expands the office premises with 40% and receives an “Electronics company of the year” award from the Electronics Industry Association in Gothenburg, Sweden.
-
2020
New groundbreaking solutions for 5G device characterization are introduced and Bluetest celebrates 20 years of continuous support to the wireless industry.
